I rebuilt serna-free in a clean chroot. The resulting binary package didn't
depend on python anymore. From the build log:

Note that dh (in compat<9) calls dh_pysupport automatically, but only if
it's installed. In this case it was not, because the package doesn't
build-depend on it (not even transitively, as it used to until
recently).
