Coin,

I am maintaining the gnusound package in Debian, and i'm facing a bad situation with this GNU software. gnusound is not actively maintained since a while, but beside taking care of a few patches, it was building and working correctly, until recently. This software is using features in several libraries which have been obsoleted long ago, and now an important rework is needed if we want to revive it. You can read more on this in the bug report[1].

I'm writing to this list because i tried to reach the original maintainer, and the project mailing-list to seek aid, but in vain. According to your software list[2], gnusound is not considered deprecated. So, i expect one of these to happen : * you still want to keep this project alive, and a new maintainer is appointed to take care of this issue and at least basic maintainance of this software * you decide to decommision this software, and i remove it from Debian for the next stable release * i have no answer from you, and it is no more included in a stable release of Debian because it does not build anymore
Please let me know what you decide for the future of this project.

Btw, i'm a bit desappointed because it seems GNU projects are left alone without care. It would have expected projects to be monitored for lack of maintainance or important difficulties.

Regards
