It hasn't "stopped", that was just the last point where all outstanding issues at the time had been fixed. ie. before the 2.x transition. This isn't a package that ordinarily needs a fix applied every day. Upstream is aware we've moved to 2.x (and a Debian user), and does intend to provide support for 2.x, but is afk with other things for now. So for the moment, you'll either need to be patient, and/or stick with the dovecot 1.2.x releases. There will be packages supporting 2.x as soon as the work that needs to be done is done.
