Weird. This was already reported as #580133 and closed later, since it was not reproducible anymore. I also can't reproduce it now, neither on i386 nor on amd64 (both sid cowbuilder chroots). Nevertheless I'm going to remove the TEST_AUTHOR from debian/rules to avoid having the same bug crop up again; and they are not meant to be run during installation or downstream build in the first place ...
