Hi Jonathan, I'd prefer to not add this build dependency.

I learned in the past that using the auto* tools create more work than
gain in the long run.  At some time they get updated again and force the
maintainer to adapt, or something goes wrong with the build.  I try to
avoid these tools whereever possible, and I don't think the dash package
needs them.  Instead I suggest to patch ./configure if necessary.
