Using trial and error I managed to narrow down the problem space. It appears that the bug is connected with the muParser library. When I disabled it in "Set column values", qtiplot stopped crashing and calculates normally.
Sorry for the exaggerated alarm. This renders the severity of this bug inappropriate. Please change it to either Normal or Minor. Or perhaps it should be changed to libmuparser0 bug?
