I used pbuilder; I don't think using sbuild would have caused a
difference, but I'll try it for the sake of completeness later.

Well, this is still an irritating bug. The package is supposed to
build even on an unclean environment (at least with auto* for elinks,
this holds). A patch for this would be welcome; I'll try to look at
it and create one.
