Hi Nelson!

given that Apple does not sell anymore PowerPC machines for scientific
computing, I think that it is a reasonnable solution, that will make 
the package available for people to have a look or to train themselves
with a test dataset, before doing the real computation on a dedicated
computer.

Perhaps README.Debian could mention our choice and invite users who really
would like to do their research using HMMER3 on PowerPC running Debian to
contact us and Upstream to improve the package together.
