Watch the bug severity inflation. Grave is for bugs that make it unusable
for everyone, and rebuilt packages certainly do not apply.

So do I. *And* it is currently working just fine, and hp-probe finds the
2610 on the USB bus correctly with the old qt libs.

Anyway, to try to reproduce your problem, I just upgraded everything and
rebuilt hplip from the current sid source packages. hpijs/cups/hpiod
interaction worked like a charm. hp-toolbox did something stupid the first
time I tried to run it, but after printing a testpage using CUPS, it works
as well. I will try to track down what happened.

1. Upgrade to latest sid, and use aptitude to make sure you have nothing
held or obsolete that could be screwing up your build environment... or use
pbuilder and a sid chroot.

2. rebuild hplip from the source in unstable.

3. test it. Report what works and what doesn't. Install by force your
printer in CUPS (why did you need to reinstall it anyway?), and see if
printing works (use the CUPS interface or lp, or something else). Then tell
me if hp-probe works or not, hp-makeuri works or not, hp-toolbox works or
not, etc.
