Well, I'm migrating LW to Allegro-4.2.0 (release candidate 2) and here's
what I have:
- running Liquid War 5.6.2 on an amd64 sid box, using 100% Debian
packages, I indeed get an awfull (and loud) schrchhchthhcht when
starting the game. Basically, sound is wrecked. Hum.
- compiling genuine 5.6.2 source on this box using the Debian Allegro
package produces a binary which runs without sound wrecked...
- compiling my work in progress (upcoming 5.6.3) code with Allegro 4.2.0
seems fine.

So there must be something with the way LW is compiled/linked with
Allegro within the Debian package. I need to investigate this a bit.
Guess it's foundable.

Have a nice day,

Christian.
