Package: wondershaper Version: 1.1a-5 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
On a system which acts as a gateway to a 3M circuit (gives consistent/steady 3100kbps symetric throughput to a nearby host), wondershaper needs to be passed different values in order that it limits the throughput to approx 3100kbps (and therefore works correctly). Trial-and-error gave these values: /usr/sbin/wondershaper ethEXT0 2950 2350 whilst simultaneously uploading and downloading using scp. The scp statistics, and the "detailed interface statistics" from iptraf show throughput of around 3000kbps in both directions, and icmp round-trip times go up by approx 10% vs an unloaded link. Lower values throttle throughput without improving latency. Larger values result in degraded latency, but no further improvements in throughput.
