Sarge officially does not support sun4c systems like the IPX, however it may be possible to install woody, install a special upgrade kernel, then upgrade to sarge. There just isn't sufficient interest by the people with the skills needed to support it. sun4m may not be supported in etch, sun4u systems like the ultra 1 go for about $15, I recomend getting one if you are interested in debian on sparc. Otherwise you might want to try netbsd or freebsd.
