Package: fontconfig-config
Version: 2.6.0-3
Severity: serious

I discovered this issue when doing a automatic upgrade of KDE from
Lenny to Squeeze. The package claim
/etc/fonts/conf.avail/25-unhint-nonlatin.conf have been changed
locally. This is obviously wrong, as the package was upgraded from a
freshly generated Lenny chroot.

The complete installation and upgrade log can be found at
<URL:
http://people.skolelinux.org/~pere/debian-upgrade-testing/test-20100729-lenny-squeeze-kde-aptitude.txt
 >.

This is the relevant part:

Setting up fontconfig-config (2.6.0-3) ...

Configuration file `/etc/fonts/conf.avail/25-unhint-nonlatin.conf'
==> File on system created by you or by a script.
==> File also in package provided by package maintainer.
What would you like to do about it ? Your options are:
    Y or I : install the package maintainer's version
    N or O : keep your currently-installed version
D : show the differences between the versions
Z : background this process to examine the situation
The default action is to keep your current version.
*** 25-unhint-nonlatin.conf (Y/I/N/O/D/Z) [default=N] ? dpkg: error processing
fontconfig-config (--configure):
EOF on stdin at conffile prompt

The script to reproduce this is available next to the log file.

I believe a untouched Lenny installation should upgrade without
conffile questions, and hope you can find a way to make sure that
happen also for fontconfig-config. If I am not mistaken, it is also a
requirement in the Debian policy. Setting severity to serious because
of this.

Happy hacking,
