The full build log is available from:
http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2009/12/23/cupsddk_1.2.3-5_lsid64.buildlog
A list of current common problems and possible solutions is available at
http://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS . You're welcome to contribute!
About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot. Internet was not
accessible from the build systems.

Thanks Lucas,
cupsddk now builds correctly on amd64:
https://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=cups;ver=1.4.3-1;arch=ia64;stamp=1270831048
However there is an hidden issue here in source packages, which has been filed
against ftp.debian.org:
Bug#577762: RM: cupsddk-drivers -- ROM; merged into main src:cups package
