I’ve upgraded gettext too, t̲h̲e̲n̲ found the r̲e̲a̲l̲ cause for the issue (upstream’s “interesting” way to find the module path breaks with autoconf >2.60, IIRC) and fixed it in the pkg-wml git repository. XTaran (new maintainer) says he’ll clean up the package and make a new upload RSN (I don’t know with which urgency though).
