For the maintainer and other people who reads this bug report: With OpenOffice 1:3.2.0-4, mysql-java 5.1.10+dfsg-2, mysql-server 5.1.44-3 or 5.0.32-7etch12, I cannot reproduce the connection error. Everything seems to run fine.
