Package: libgnomekbd3
Version: 2.26.0-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 7.6.2

(I'm new to Debian.)

I upgraded from Lenny to Squeeze. During the upgrade, I got the
following:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libgnomekbd2: Depends: libgnomekbd-common (= 2.22.0-1) but 2.26.0-1 is to be
installed.
  gnome-desktop-environment: Conflicts: gstreamer0.10-gnomevfs but 0.10.25-1 is
to be installed.
  sysvinit-utils: Conflicts: chkconfig (< 11.0-79.1-2) but 11.0-79.1-1 is
installed and it is kept back.
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

Remove the following packages:
gnome
gnome-desktop-environment
libgnomekbd2
libgnomekbdui2

(ignore sysvinit-utils above)

AIUI, libgnomekbd3 replaces libgnomekbd2, and if the package said so,
there would not have been a confict and perhaps the removal of gnome
would not have been suggested.

I'm not sure about gnome-desktop-environment, so tell me if I should
file a bug there too.

I ended up accepting the suggesting and then using `tasksel install
desktop` to fix it. Probably it would have been smarter to use dpkg
to remove libgnomekbd2 and then try again, but I'm new to Debian (and
I'm not quite sure why the version ended up as sqeeze/sid).

Last time I upgraded a lenny system to squeeze, there was no such issue.
It was probably a transient bug caused by missing builds.
