Actually, I believe the bug is in KDM, which provided a way in lenny to set up ones own kdm theme, and is unable to write the specified theme in Squeeze. This method worked in Lenny, and KDM should either ignore the setting for kdm version 3 in Squeeze, or handle it properly. If the KDM themes are version specific, the settings in /etc/default/kdm.d/ should be versioned, Preferably the kdm themes should not be version specific.
