The php5-suhosin package does still exist. It is at the moment
uninstallable because of the transition to 5.3 and its new API, but
that applies to every other extension not shipped by php itslef. This
will be addressed soon and doesn't require any bug report.
And no, the suhosin patch is not the same as the suhosin extension.
