Package: xserver-xorg-video-neomagic
Version: 1:1.2.4-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
I just upgraded by unstable system and the xorg neomagic driver became
unusable. This is due to it depending upon a symbol that doesn't
exist.
Other distros are seeing this problem as well. Gentoo's bug
report is particularly worth of note since it:
a) is short and therefore easy to read
b) includes a fairly inteligent looking patch to fix the problem
See http://bugs.gentoo.org/292466 .
Finally note that this bug is particularly nasty because it also
kills the VT system. Not only is the X display broken but it is
not possible to switch to a text console to try and fix it without
rebooting into recovery mode (to stop the display server starting).
