The simple solution for this bug is for python-compizconfig to actually use python-central or python-support to manage the extension, rather than leave it as it is. (Correct me if I'm wrong) So, while I've not attached a patch, Build-depending on python-central and uncommenting the dh_pycentral call in debian/rules seems to fix the issue. HTH, and thanks.
