Hmmm... that was *years* ago, when Linux2.4's VM was not stable enough.
I've used it for ages, and never had any problems -- whereas ext3 gave
more than a headache several times...
... but let us not make a flamewar of this.

Correct, due to the -- yet unresolved problem with libreiserfs.
Would you mind forwarding me the relevant patches? you seem to have them
far more handy than me.

Hopefully, you'll be able to re-enable ReiserFS soon (in a couple of
