This was working normally until a recent update where the function make_system_path_relative_to_its_root in /usr/lib/grub/grub-mkconfig_lib turns /boot to / resulting in a boot image path like: linux //vmlinux-previous root=/dev/md2 ro video=vesafb:mtrr:3,ywrap,1280x1024...@60 vga=0x318. (Note the //).
