Subject: modprobe: I reboot and all I get is "No devices listed in conf file".
Check cat /prod/modules; ls /dev....both are empty. and I get a busybox prompt.
Package: modprobe
Version: module-init-tools version 3.11
Justification: no longer builds from source
Severity: serious

I have a working 2.6.24 system and built a new kernel using "aptitude install linux-image-686-bigmem". Everything appeared to go right and it appeared to update grub.conf (versions 2). When I try to reboot with the new kernel, all I get is "No devices listed in conf file were found", "cat /proc/modules; ls /dev" and drop to a busybox prompt. I do a cat on modules (BLANK) and only 2 items in /dev.
Example of my grub.conf:
title Xandros Desktop 2.6.32-bigmem
root (0x80,1)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-trunk-686-bigmem rw acpi=on
resume=swap:/dev/sda1 vga=791 root=/dev/sda2 rootdelay=15
config-file=/boot/config.2.6.32-trunk-686-bigmem
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-trunk-686-bigmem
