I'm still seeing this with 1:0.2.3dbs-67, after a reboot. Looking at /sys/module/vt/paramters/default_utf8 it does contain 0 now, while before the new version it contained 1. Note that I already indicated in the bug report that I tried setting this to 0 in the script myself.
