The version you talk about it's the one currently in debian, and it still
uses gtk1.2. The last time I asked, the upstream author told me that the
gkt2 interface was usable and that he could plan a release for that issue,
but since there were some features in development I told him that I could
wait.

I think I'll wait until the end of december and then I'll ask them about a
release.

I'm subscribed to both debian-science and d-s-maintainers. I currently
have no strict needs for sponsors, but I really like the team concept.
I think I'll probably join the team after learning to use git for debian
packaging (still going with directories and tar archives, and without time
to play with git, damned university!) :P
