I was wondering what's the status regarding the use of libpoppler. xpdf is already a security nightmare on its own and it might be removed from the archive if nobody steps up to properly maintain it, and as such you might guess that something similar might happen to swftools. If there are no updates on this issue in a month, I guess I'll request the removal of the package from testing as a first step.
