severity 543990 wishlist
thanks

As I already stated I contacted upstream authors to have a sane release
policy. But I'm not the one to decide. Neither the maintainer.

As I already stated the *upstream* release policy dictates that a new debian
release increases the *upstream* package version. It is that simple and
there is nothing we can do about it. I'll forward your concerns to upstream
authors but *as I already stated* upstream author is not currently willing
to change the release policy.

There are a million reasons to support that debian releases should be
separate from upstream releases but *as I already stated* I tried and failed
to convince upstream author.

As long as the package does not break the debian policy it can no longer be
considered a serious bug. Nonetheless we will keep this as a wishlist item
as a testimony of your thoughts (which are also mine).

Cheers,
F. Moya
