Thanks! This only happens with -j, so I am downgrading the severity, as I don't think it is release-critical. That said, I've fixed it upstream, and will include it in my next upload. I doubt that the one fix I did is the _only_ thing needed in that makefile for parallel safety, but the targets called by debian/rules seem to work, anyway.
