For the benefit of people bumping into this on Turmzimmer or similar, fixing the issue Lucas reported is quite easy but you will quickly encounter actual compilation errors in the upstream source. I believe that ifrit needs to be ported to VTK 5.2 - upstream's website claims that 3.2.7 is a port to 5.2 [0], so that might be the way to go.
