Package: netbase Severity: serious So sysvinit now Depends on insserv adding insserv to all chroots.
If I no try to install netbase in a chroot that has insserv, I get: Setting up netbase (4.36) ... Configuration file `/etc/services' ==> File on system created by you or by a script. ==> File also in package provided by package maintainer. ==> Using current old file as you requested. Configuration file `/etc/protocols' ==> File on system created by you or by a script. ==> File also in package provided by package maintainer. ==> Using current old file as you requested. insserv: Service ifupdown has to be enabled to start service networking insserv: exiting now! dpkg: error processing netbase (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 The ifupdown package is not installed, it's only recommended. This chroot does not have to set up any networking, this is already set up outside the chroot, and the only thing it could possible do is screw up things. (I'm not sure where that services file comes from, I certainly never edited it, and at first look seems to be the one from the package with the comments removed.)
