Some serious side effects I've noticed: * X11 starts without input devices. If you're using X11 device autodetection (through HAL) and display manager, you'll be tossed into X without a way to login or switch to a tty. You'll need to SSH into the machine remotely, or reboot into single-user mode to log into the machine.
* avahi does not work. On the problematic machine, you'll not be able to resolve .local addresses of remote machines, nor will remote machines be able to find the problematic machine. This makes the machine inaccessible for those who rely on avahi for DNS in their simple networks (I do). -- Samat K Jain <http://samat.org/> | GPG: 0x4A456FBA A mind is a terrible thing to have leaking out your ears. -- The League of Sadistic Telepaths (48)
