Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org

Hi,

during an installation test of your package with piuparts dpkg-preconfigure
hung and ate all available cpu:

Steps to reproduce:

# export DEBIAN_FRONTEND="noninteractive"
# apt-get install emacspeak
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer
required:
  opalmod
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
The following extra packages will be installed:
  emacs22 emacs22-bin-common emacs22-common tcl8.4 tclx8.4 xaw3dg
Suggested packages:
  emacs22-common-non-dfsg emacs22-el emacspeak-ss psgml eflite espeak w3m-el
tclreadline tclx8.4-doc
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  emacs22 emacs22-bin-common emacs22-common emacspeak tcl8.4 tclx8.4 xaw3dg
0 upgraded, 7 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 0B/22.1MB of archives.
After this operation, 77.7MB of additional disk space will be used.

The reason is that you have a debconf question which doesnt default to "none"
(but to "" instead) and then "" is not accepted as an answer and then the
questions gets asked again. And again. And again. And again...

Justification for severity serious: breaks unrelated software, apt in this
case.

regards,
        Holger

emacspeak - speech output interface to Emacs
Closes: 522629
Changes:
 emacspeak (29.0-2) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * debian/templates: Default shared/emacspeak/port to "none". This way,
an empty string is no longer the default, allowing for a
noninteractive installation. (Thanks to Cyril Brulebois
     <k...@debian.org>, Closes:Bug#522629)
 .
   * debian/control: depend on ${misc:Depends} so "the dependencies are set
correctly in case the result of a call to any of the dh_ commands
cause the package to depend on another package" (courtesy of
lintian). Bump Debian policy to 3.8.1 (no changes needed).
