the patch supplied by Julien did not do the trick for me, as the
relevant files on my system are installed at
/usr/share/pyshared/screenlets/
The patch and the information at the upstream report however revealed
the needed information ( i.e. changing 'class xyz:' to 'class xyz
(object):' ) for fixing this.
dpkg information about my screenlets is as follows:

Status: install ok installed
Priority: optional
