Brief update: I will be out of town for the next two and a half weeks, unfortunately this FTBFS came at a very bad time. I apologize if it has bitten anyone between now and when I can request a buildd rebuild. (I have tried to reduce the heap size of the tests and still can't reproduce the error.)
