This is the same problem I encounter in http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=520916 Paul: can you please provide the output of: uname -a dpkg --list libc6 menu grep -e libc6 -e menu /var/log/dpkg.log And let us know whether "update-menus -v" is hanging on your system? I'm trying to isolate the bug and encounter the problem on just one single system so far so any information would help us in tracking that.... regards, -mika-
