I can actually get the Layers dialog to appear fine, if I ask for it from the File menu in the toolbox window, before opening any images. But as soon as I open an image, gimp crashes. It does not seem to be affected by the visibility state of the image or Layers windows; gimp still crashes when I open the second, even if the first is unmapped (iconified). The image window (or the Layers dialog, whichever is opened second) is mapped and drawn, then gimp crashes. Note 1: I also experienced bug #318345 `gimp: fails to start' with version 2.2.8-4 - that seems to have been fixed, but now I get this crash instead. Note 2: Neither of these crashes occur on my laptop, which has a Celeron M-series. I'm not sure whether the fact that my (old) Athlon doesn't implement SSE has anything to do with this. (Just a thought, from looking at the debian config options in the source code.) Note 3: This crash also happens with gimp version 2.2.6-1 (the other version which I can get from the debian archives). -- CPU: processor : 0 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 6 model : 1 model name : AMD-K7(tm) Processor stepping : 2 cpu MHz : 499.051 cache size : 512 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 1 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat mmx syscall mmxext 3dnowext 3dnow bogomips : 996.14 -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.4.26 Locale: LANG=en_AU, LC_CTYPE=en_AU (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages gimp depends on: ii gimp-data 2.2.8-6 Data files for The GIMP ii libaa1 1.4p5-28 ascii art library ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-0 1.10.1-2 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-21 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libexif10 0.6.9-6 library to parse EXIF files ii libexpat1 1.95.8-1 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libfontconfig1 2.3.1-2 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.1.7-2.3 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgimp2.0 2.2.8-4 Libraries necessary to Run the GIM ii libglib2.0-0 2.6.5-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.6.8-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libice6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-2 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg62 6b-10 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii liblcms1 1.13-1 Color management library ii libmng1 1.0.8-1 Multiple-image Network Graphics li ii libpango1.0-0 1.8.1-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-1 PNG library - runtime ii libsm6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-2 X Window System Session Management ii libtiff4 3.7.2-3 Tag Image File Format (TIFF) libra ii libwmf0.2-7 0.2.8.3-2 Windows metafile conversion librar ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 X Window System protocol client li ii libxmu6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-2 X Window System miscellaneous util ii libxpm4 6.8.2.dfsg.1-2 X pixmap library ii libxt6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-2 X Toolkit Intrinsics ii wget 1.9.1-4 retrieves files from the web ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-12 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4 compression library - runtime Versions of packages gimp recommends: ii gimp-svg 2.2.8-6 SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) plu -- no debconf information --------------------------------------- Received: (at 319145-done) by bugs.debian.org; 20 Jul 2005 13:13:09 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Jul 20 06:13:09 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from ev1s-216-12-200-162.ev1servers.net (discovery.alienhosting.com) [216.12.200.162] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.36 1 (Debian)) id 1DvENp-0005yo-00; Wed, 20 Jul 2005 06:13:09 -0700 Received: (qmail 5908 invoked by uid 531); 20 Jul 2005 09:13:08 -0400 Received: by simscan 1.1.0 ppid: 5902, pid: 5904, t: 0.6784s scanners: attach: 1.1.0 clamav: 0.86.1/m:33/d:984 spam: 3.0.3 Received: from unknown (HELO secure.alienhosting.com) (127.0.0.1) by localhost with SMTP; 20 Jul 2005 09:13:07 -0400 Received: from 63.118.120.2 (SquirrelMail authenticated user [EMAIL PROTECTED]) by secure.alienhosting.com with HTTP; Wed, 20 Jul 2005 09:13:07 -0400 (EDT) Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Wed, 20 Jul 2005 09:13:07 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Re: Bug#319145: gimp: layers dialog crash From: "Ari Pollak" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] User-Agent: SquirrelMail/1.4.5-rc1 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain;charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-Priority: 3 (Normal) Importance: Normal Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-4.8 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER, PRIORITY_NO_NAME autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 Ian Bailey-Mortimer wrote: > On Wed, 20 Jul 2005 17:37, you wrote: >> > ii libgimp2.0 2.2.8-4 >> Have you tried upgrading libgimp as well? > > Ah!
