Package: gimp
Version: 2.2.8-6
Severity: important

When I try to bring up the Layers dialog with an open picture,
gimp crashes (Illegal instruction).

I can actually get the Layers dialog to appear fine, if I ask
for it from the File menu in the toolbox window, before opening
any images. But as soon as I open an image, gimp crashes.

It does not seem to be affected by the visibility state of
the image or Layers windows; gimp still crashes when I open
the second, even if the first is unmapped (iconified).

The image window (or the Layers dialog, whichever is opened
second) is mapped and drawn, then gimp crashes.

Note 1: I also experienced bug #318345 `gimp: fails to start'
with version 2.2.8-4 - that seems to have been fixed, but now
I get this crash instead.

Note 2: Neither of these crashes occur on my laptop, which
has a Celeron M-series. I'm not sure whether the fact that my
(old) Athlon doesn't implement SSE has anything to do with
this. (Just a thought, from looking at the debian config
options in the source code.)

Note 3: This crash also happens with gimp version 2.2.6-1
(the other version which I can get from the debian archives).
