Package: gconf2 Version: 2.24.0-7 Severity: critical Justification: breaks unrelated software
when trying to run gnome application as root - such as gedit, it gives the following failure: "Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://www.gnome.org/projects/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.)" it makes any application for gnome that uses gconf settings daemon unusable when using as root. as normal user it seems to work ok. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686-bigmem (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages gconf2 depends on: ii dbus-x11 1.2.12-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii gconf2-common 2.24.0-7 GNOME configuration database syste ii libc6 2.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgconf2-4 2.24.0-7 GNOME configuration database syste ii libglib2.0-0 2.18.4-2 The GLib library of C routines ii libxml2 2.6.32.dfsg-5 GNOME XML library ii psmisc 22.6-1 Utilities that use the proc filesy ii python 2.5.4-2 An interactive high-level object-o Versions of packages gconf2 recommends: ii libgtk2.0-0 2.12.12-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface Versions of packages gconf2 suggests: pn gconf-defaults-service <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
