I have just uploaded a new upstream version of hplip 3.9.2.
I suspect your problem maybe related to the permissions as other have been
having issue as well, cf; #517297 & #518029
Could I ask you to upgrade to the new version in unstable and file an update
to this bug using reportbug against the hplip package;
$ `reportbug hplip`
This will query your installation and provide further details such as config &
permissions.
