Package: libsane-extras Version: 1.0.19.11 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
I had sane workin under sarge with epkowa driver and a propietary part provided by epson (iscan_2.10.0-2_i386.deb iscan-plugin-cx4400_2.0.0-1_i386.deb alienated from rpm provided by epson, milfunction CX-5600) It runs in a 686 machine, mostly used as a chroot, but the problem has nothing to do with the chroot. The packages conflict with libsane-extras, which is not need, so it was not installed in sarge. When upgradings to lenny aptitude upgrades sane and calls libsane-extras (in depends) which conflicts with installed iscan_2.10.0-2_i386.deb over /usr/share/man/man5/sane-epkowa.5.gz libsane-extras is not configured and so goes sane .... removing iscan_2.10.0-2_i386.deb is not a solution since it allows instalation of sane but with the conflicting (at a deeper level) with iscan. Fix? remove the dependence of libsane with libsane-extras or put epkowa in a different package. My fix now is: remove sane, libsane, libsane-extras which drags kde!!! download sane from repository, compile, install, install iscan packages and use the scanner booting 686 linux or amd64 and a chroot.
