Given the sheer amount of people that have complained since just before Lenny was released, I'd be tempted to drop a patch in debian/patches to make exactly that small change and to even release this with the next Lenny RC update. While this isn't a security issue, it's enough of a drastic change and simple enough to fix that it might be worth including in that next Lenny RC release. CUPS team, how about it?
