I experienced this issue too both with a HD3650 on a Lenny system and a 
Puma-based notebook (HD3200 + HD3650) with Sid.

No changes when running without fglrx kernel module,  X crashes and the 
backtrace is found in Xorg log.

I'm attaching lspci -vv of the notebook.
Cannot post more info for now as I downgraded to 8.7.
