Package: gnome-volume-manager Version: 2.22.1-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
I have a digital camera which I have used for some time now. Importing photos from the camera used to work just fine On Lenny earlier, but now gnome-volume-manager seems to run wrong command when I try to import photos. Steps to reporoduce this bug: 1) Start Gnome Removable Drives and Media preferences by selecting from the Gnome desktop menu: System -> Preferences -> Removable Drives and Media 2) Go to the Cameras tab 3) Make sure you have this command set as the command for the digital cameras: gnome-volume-manager-gthumb %h Here is a screennshot which shows what I mean: http://www.saunalahti.fi/~miksuh2/screenshots/bug/screenshot1.png 4) Close Removable Drives and Media preferences 5) Connect the digital camera to the computer using USB-cable 6) I get requester which says that systems has found photos on my cameras memory card, system asks if i want to import photos. here is a screenshot what shows what i mean: http://www.saunalahti.fi/~miksuh2/screenshots/bug/screenshot2.png 7) Click import Photos -button 8) gthumb window opens and it does show photos on my cvamera. Here is a screenshot: http://www.saunalahti.fi/~miksuh2/screenshots/bug/screenshot3.png The problem is that window which was just opened is not the Import photos window which should have opened when command "gnome-volume-manager-gthumb %h".is run. An Import Photos Window should have opened. It looks like gnome-volume-manager runs wrong command. Here is the screenshot which shows what I mean. This screenshot shows the Import Photos Window which should have opened, but which did not: http://www.saunalahti.fi/~miksuh2/screenshots/bug/screenshot4.png If you open terminal window and run that same command "gnome-volume-manager-gthumb %h" from the command line then that same window which was shown in the last screen shot opens. So that command works, gnome-volume-manager just does not run it when you are importing the photos. Importing photos did work on Debian Lenny some time ago, but now it does not work. I'm not sure when or what has changed in Lenny. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages gnome-volume-manager depends on: ii gconf2 2.22.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii gnome-mount 0.7-2 wrapper for (un)mounting and eject ii hal 0.5.11-8 Hardware Abstraction Layer ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.20-2 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-0 1.22.0-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libbonobo2-0 2.22.0-1 Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libbonoboui2-0 2.22.0-1 The Bonobo UI library ii libc6 2.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo2 1.6.4-7 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libdbus-1-3 1.2.1-5 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.76-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libgconf2-4 2.22.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libglade2-0 1:2.6.2-1 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.16.6-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome2-0 2.20.1.1-1 The GNOME 2 library - runtime file ii libgnomecanvas2-0 2.20.1.1-1 A powerful object-oriented display ii libgnomeui-0 2.20.1.1-2 The GNOME 2 libraries (User Interf ii libgnomevfs2-0 1:2.22.0-5 GNOME Virtual File System (runtime ii libgtk2.0-0 2.12.11-4 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libhal1 0.5.11-8 Hardware Abstraction Layer - share ii libice6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libnotify1 [libnotify1-gtk 0.4.4-3 sends desktop notifications to a n ii liborbit2 1:2.14.13-0.1 libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libpango1.0-0 1.20.5-3 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpopt0 1.14-4 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii libsm6 2:1.0.3-2 X11 Session Management library ii libx11-6 2:1.1.5-2 X11 client-side library ii libxml2 2.6.32.dfsg-5 GNOME XML library Versions of packages gnome-volume-manager recommends: ii gthumb 3:2.10.8-1 an image viewer and browser ii nautilus-cd-burner 2.20.0-1 CD Burning front-end for Nautilus ii sound-juicer 2.22.0-2 GNOME 2 CD Ripper ii totem 2.22.2-5 A simple media player for the GNOM Versions of packages gnome-volume-manager suggests: ii rhythmbox 0.11.6-1 music player and organizer for GNO ii serpentine 0.9-6 An application for creating audio ii wine 1.0.1-1 Windows API implementation - stand ii xsane 0.996-1 featureful graphical frontend for -- no debconf information
