</etc/inittab >/etc/inittab'{new}'
mv -f /etc/inittab'{new}' /etc/inittab
in postrm.
it looks like a clear violation of 10.4.7.
and by the way, postinst also uses plain stdout to communicate with the
user, not debconf.
