OK, so the bug IS solved, and it's solved in testing-proposed-updates by the person who introduced it (me!). So, just grab the package python-matplotlib version 0.98.1-1+lenny3 from testing-proposed-updates, and that should solve the issue. Sorry for missing this. Kumar -- Kumar Appaiah
