Well, there is and there has always been:

Also udev creates devices for it:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# ls -l /dev/input/mouse0
crw-rw---- 1 root root 13, 32  6. Okt 13:33 /dev/input/mouse0

Additional, changing it to /dev/input/mice (which also exists) does
not work either..
