4 or 1. There's no point using 2+3 looking at the minimum length
(unless you want to force people into it and break scripts now).

1 has the effect of not changing packet affilations. So that
would be great for Etch IMO. For Lenny you might want to consider
4 just for compatibilty reasons to other Linuxes/Unices.
