Hello Aren, My personal preference would be for what Steve Kemp suggested in the original bug report, distributing them separately so that they can be packaged. Implementing remote plug-in installation securely is going to be non-trivial to get right, and if you do, there are users who won't be willing to risk it, (or who don't have a permanent net connection).
