Maybe I'm too ignorant, but I do not think that compiling syslog-ng with
static libraries is a serious bug.

I'm not thinking that this thing is a bug at all.

In my opinion a program which stays in /sbin as a humble system logging
daemon should, should not depend on libraries in the /usr directory.

And yes, I know that if a library compiled statically into a program
that may cause problem, when a bug found in that library bat in my
opinion in this situation the static compiling is the lesser bad thing.
