Package: fmirror
Version: 2:0.8.4-13
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system
Hi,
I installed fmirror on a debian etch machine (i686) and did
[EMAIL PROTECTED]> apt-get install fmirror
[EMAIL PROTECTED]> man fmirror
[EMAIL PROTECTED]> cd ~/webbackup/
[EMAIL PROTECTED]> fmirror -s <host> -u <username> -S -r . -l . -p
<password> -T 0
Result: It deleted /bin !!
This also happens if "-l ." is replaced by "-l /home/username/webbackup" .
Expected result: download into local dir as given in manual.
Surely I missed leaving root before downloading some ftp data but nevertheless
this is a really bad issue.
Furthermore, it would have removed /home if I had run it unsupervised.
Sincerely,
M. Braun

The fmirror package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.

http://bugs.debian.org/490982 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.
